Storyboarding

What is Storyboarding?

Drawing an experience as a sequence of scenes, from the person’s point of view.

What you learn

Draw the experience as moments in order. Gaps show between frames.

When it helps

an idea is hard to explain with screens alone, or needs to be seen in context.

Use it at work

  1. Choose the person and their goal.
  2. Draw six to eight scenes, start to finish.
  3. Show where they are, what they do and how they feel.
  4. Look hard at what happens between scenes.

Your output

Draw your next idea as six frames from the person’s point of view. Look hard at what happens between each pair.

Watch for

Describing only the screens and skipping the moments between them.
