What is Budget Stewardship?

Keeping spending tied to commitments, and to the costs that continue after a purchase.

What you learn

Before cutting a cost, find where its work and risk go.

When it helps

the budget is under pressure, or tool and service costs keep growing.

Use it at work

  1. List each cost and the work or protection it provides.
  2. For each, ask where the work goes if it’s cut.
  3. Cut waste first, like unused licenses.
  4. Show the trade-offs of deeper cuts to whoever decides.

Your output

For each cost you’re asked to cut, write what work it does, and who would do that work, or what risk would rise, without it.

Watch for

Cutting the costs that look easy without tracing what they do.
