Design Critique
Reviewing a design against its goal, so the designer knows what to change and why.
What is Design Critique?
Reviewing a design against its goal, so the designer knows what to change and why.
What you learn
Judge a design against its goal, not your taste.
When it helps
reviews turn into opinions, or the feedback is too vague to use.
Use it at work
- Start by stating the design’s goal.
- Point to one specific detail.
- Say what that detail might do to the goal.
- Leave the solution to the designer unless they ask.
Your output
In your next critique, start each comment with the goal: “For [goal], this [detail] might [effect].”
Watch for
Giving feedback based on personal preference.
